Pancake Day!!!

Well, if there’s one day in February I love and look forward to it isn’t Valentines Day or even my own birthday (hey, that just means doctors look another year younger) it is the wonder that is Shrove Tuesday, or pancake day as we all really know it.

It not only gives me the chance to make a mess in the kitchen, which I admit I’m very good at…

Making the Pancake mix (and making a mess!)

But also gives me chance to use a few new gadgets which always appeals to the secret geek in me.

Heart shaped pancake mould

This doesn't work every time...

But this time it did!!!

And okay, maybe it is a bit weird that when you give your other half your heart, he then proceeds to eat it, but hey, who can blame him, when it looks this yummy!

Love on a plate...

Lemons and sugar may be the traditional flavours for pancakes on Pancake Day…

I must not use the stock... I must not use the stock... I must not use the stock...

but my personal pancake day treat is hot black cherries in a sticky syrup with lashings of traditional vanilla ice-cream.  Whilst my boys go for every childs dream topping of melted chocolate with millions of hundred and thousands, yum, yum!

So don’t buy the ‘just shake’ pancake packs from the supermarket this year, get the flour out, cut up a lemon and make a mess! What’s the worst that could happen, lumpy mix? Well it wouldn’t be the first time I got the sieve out to rescue the day, but shhh, don’t tell anyone….

A traditional lemon and sugar pancake.

And here's one I made earlier - the traditional triple flipped lemon and sugar pancake!
